Summerwind Plaza Shopping Center

October 2003-Joe Funk Construction Engineers, Inc. is the general contractor tapped to build a new shopping center in the metroplex area. A new 8,000 square foot Family Dollar Store will anchor the center along with an additional 10,800 square feet of tenant space. The first phase of the project includes construction of the retail store, parking, paving, utilities, a detention pond, landscaping, a firelane, and the pad site. The second phase of the project will include development of the pad site once 75% of the lease space is committed.

Mitchell Meyers is the General Partner and owner of the shopping center who also happens to be Vice President of Marketing at Joe Funk Construction Engineers. Joining Mitch in designing and developing this project is Steve Assante, the lead architect at C. L. Helt Architect, Inc. in North Carolina, and Ronny Kingbell with RLK Engineering in Dallas. “We are pleased to have C.L. Helt on the team and to again be working with RLK Engineers who has done an outstanding job in handling the detailed planning required by the City of Garland,” says Rusty Norris. 

Summerwind Plaza is located at 1130 N. Country Club Drive in Garland, Texas. The grand opening of the new Family Dollar Store is scheduled for Spring 2004.
