Kid Net Foundation — Jonathan's Place
September 2003 — Joe Funk
Construction Engineers is proud to announce its association with
Kid
Net Foundation as we begin construction responsibilities
over the next several months to complete their exciting expansion
effort. This wonderful non-profit organization, founded in 1991,
and started by Lisa Matthews and Phil Matteis, provides an extensive
array of much-needed residential and outreach services throughout
Dallas County especially for young children and infants who suffer
from abuse and neglect.
The cornerstone and most visible aspect of Kid
Net Foundation is Jonathan's Place,
a licensed emergency shelter located in Garland, Texas. Jonathan's
Place provides temporary transitional living services for children
and the goal is to increase the current number of beds as soon
as funding is arranged to accommodate a total of 1000 children
annually.
Joe Funk Construction Engineers, working closely
with Bill Larson of Bill Larson Architects, is embarking
on Phases 2 and 3 of the expansion that will add approximately
24,728 square feet of new space. In addition to four new buildings
and a storage facility for Jonathan's Place, our firm's services
include site work, parking, paving, landscaping, utilities, and
the development of a new playground area. Some of the new space
will house administrative and fundraising staff who are supporting
the fine work of this growing organization.
