Hubbard Hall Theater Renovation at Texas
Woman's University

Woman’s University (TWU) in Denton, Texas has awarded
a $3.2 million contract to Joe Funk Construction Engineers to
convert the Hubbard Hall dining hall facility into a new Studio
Theater complex. Once this major renovation/construction project
is completed in December 2006, it will include a new 19,000 sf
theater, seating 120 people and have ample space for theater education
and support including a new home for the drama department. New
features include an expanded central lobby with amenities, an
additional entry to the building, rehearsal and practice rooms
and classrooms, practice areas, make-up rooms and classrooms,
conference rooms and student lounge, faculty offices, costume
shop and storage space, and all the acoustical, lighting and equipment
needed for stage productions.

Scope of work on the project also includes demolition,
special interior finishes, and HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and
fire protection upgrades. Throughout construction, the historic
character of Hubbard Hall’s exterior will be maintained.

Leading the Joe Funk Construction
Engineers team is Richard Lanier as Project Manager
and Gerald Wallace as superintendent.

Austin, Texas is providing architectural and design services for
TWU with Nestor Bottino serving as the Project Architect. “Working
